State Government of Odisha has launched Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana on 26th January 2018 with a motive to provide healthcare facilities to all the citizens of Odisha. Chief Minister of Odisha Mr Naveen Patnaik has launched Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana. Cashless health treatment of Rs. 5 lakhs will be provided to family members. Around 208 no. of hospitals have been empanelled under this Yojana. A target of covering 3.5 crores of families has been fixed. The government has allocated Rs. 1300 crores of budget for its implementation.
Odisha Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana has been launched under the State Government of Odisha with the association of Department of Health and Family Welfare. This Yojana aims to provide cashless healthcare treatment to the beneficiary providing health cover of Rs. 5 or Rs. 7 lakhs to the beneficiary’s family. Objectives Of Odisha Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana 2024
One of the foremost objectives of launching Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana is to provide healthcare services to all the Residents of Odisha within their family members so that they will be able to get treatment facilities at the time of emergency. Cashless treatment of Rs. 5 lakhs to 7 lakhs will be provided to the eligible applicant by the hospitalization services.
The other main objective of starting the Odisha Swasthya Kalyan Scheme is to facilitate the provisions of cashless treatments across the state in an emergency need. This Yojana is more and more focused on implementing better medical facilities in the hospitals for the patients. This Yojana will build up a healthcare system for the citizens of Odisha.
Providing Smart Health Cards
After applying under this Yojana, the government will provide Smart Health Cards to the beneficiaries so that the applicants can use this card at the time of getting hospitalized in the hospitals for their treatment. This card will work like a debit card. Beneficiaries can take their treatment by visiting anyone out of the empanelled hospitals which has been registered under this Yojana.
In the first phase, the government has distributed smart cards in various districts such as Malkangiri, Balangir, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, and the Gajapati of the state. Another left out district will get covered under the 2nd phase by November 2021. A target of covering 9.6 million families has been set up for the second phase.
No. Of Empanelled Hospitals
For the successful implementation of this Yojana, about 200 hospitals have been empanelled for giving treatments to the applicants. About 183 no. of hospitals are empanelled within the states, and about 17 no. of hospitals have been empanelled outside the State of Odisha. A provision has been made by the Government to empanel more hospitals for future use.
Budget Of Odisha Swasthya Kalyan Yojana 2024
A target of covering about 3.52 crores of applicants has been fixed by the government. The government has allocated Rs. 1300 crores of budget for the successful implementation of this Yojana. Health Smart Cards will be issued to the applicant for availing the benefit of free treatment facilities. On 1st September 2021 annual budget of all the legible beneficiaries will be get renewed.
Extension of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana 2024
By providing benefits of free cashless treatments to its citizens, the government is going to extend the benefits of free cashless medical care facilities to Government Medical College Hospitals. Apart from getting treatment services from the healthcare centres, the beneficiaries can also get their treatments from the Government Medical College Hospitals. People who belong Below Poverty Line can also get their treatment from the Government Medical College Hospital.
Claim Settlement Procedure
The government of Odisha have already sanctioned the fund of treatment to the government hospitals so at the time of availing healthcare treatment the applicant need not worry about the claim process as this process have been already carried out by the Government. The insurance party itself will settle the claim with the hospital authorities.
Dimension of Bijju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana 2024
There are 3 dimensions of this scheme as follows: –
- Free Medical Care Facilities: – Applicants will be able to get free healthcare services provided by the Odisha’s Government. Services regarding healthcare have been organized at the sub-center level to district headquarter hospital level.
- Health coverage: – by applying under this Yojana, health insurance of Rs. 5 lakhs will be given to the applicants for per year, and Rs. 7 lakhs for per annum will be given to the women members of the family.
- Drop back assistance: – Rs. 500 of financial assistance will be given to each pregnant lady and sick infants. For availing this benefit the applicants will need to visit Public Health centers or hospitals.

Eligibility Criteria
For applying under BSKY, the applicant must possess the following criteria mentioned below:-
- All the citizens of Odisha state will be considered eligible for getting free treatments at Government Health Care Institutions.
- For getting health insurance of Rs 5 lakhs per family and Rs. 7 lakhs for women member of the family, the applicants must possess the mentioned below criteria: –
