Fame India Scheme 2024

Central Government has launched Fame II Scheme in order to encourage the use of electric vehicles instead of fuel-based vehicles. The government will provide subsidies on the purchase of electric vehicles. This scheme will readdress all the issues of environmental as well as air pollution issues caused by petrol or diesel-based vehicles.

In order to reduce the use of petrol and diesel-powered vehicles which cause air pollution, Fame India Scheme has been launched by the Central Government with a motive to sell Electric and Hybrid vehicles. This scheme is part of the Government’s National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP).

Objectives of Fame India Scheme 2024

The foremost objective of launching the Fame II Scheme is to encourage the use of electric vehicles among the citizens of India so that they will be able to encounter the issues of air pollution as well as environmental issues. Subsidy on the purchase of electric vehicles will also be provided by the Government to the applicants.

The other objective of launching the Fame India Scheme is to bring the use of electric buses among the visitors so that it will contribute towards reducing environmental pollution. The government has allocated 10,000 crores of budget for the successful implementation of this scheme. In order to reduce pollution, the government will bring a high number of electric buses to the big metropolitan cities.

Extension Of Fame India Scheme

The government of India has extended the Fame II Scheme for the next 2 years. This scheme will put on working till the year 2024. The government has extended this scheme in order to readdress more and more environmental issues in various parts of the country. The government has also provided subsidies to the applicant for purchasing electric vehicles.

Sales Of Vehicle Under Fame II Scheme

The government has allocated 10,000 crores of budget for the successful implementation of this scheme, till now only 5% of this budget have been used by the Government that is Rs. 500 crores for selling 78,045 electric vehicles out which 59954 no. of EV consisted of two-wheelers and 16499 no. of EV consisted of three-wheelers and remaining 1562 consisted of four-wheelers.

About 2.78 lakhs of EVs were sold at the worth cost of Rs. 343 Crores in the first phase of the scheme. Moreover, 465 buses were sanctioned to various cities/states under this scheme. The detailed analysis of the budget approved under phase-I of the Fame India Scheme is as follows: –

Installation of Charging Stations

The government has installed 350 no. of the new charging station in various cities such as Chandigarh, Lucknow, Jaipur, Delhi and Bangalore. Update regarding the installation of charging installation has been received from the parliament. Around 2877 charging stations have been installed in 68 cities at the worth cost of Rs. 500 crores.

Subsidy On The Purchase Of 2 Wheeler

As per the provisions of the central government, the subsidy has also been allocated to the applicants for purchasing 2 wheeler electric vehicles. About 3,61,00 no. of electric vehicles has been sold by the government by 9 July 2021 and an amount of Rs. 600 crores on the subsidy have provided by the government.

Challenges Faced By Previous Technological Inventions

There are some challenges that have been faced due to technological inventions: –

  • Cost Edit: – In the previous year technological inventions, cost of the Electric Vehicles is very high because due to the high cost of the Li-on cells. These batteries are imported in the India from outside the India at the worth cost of $275/ KWh. For importing these batteries, 18% of GST charges are charged by the importing agency.
  • Lack Of Renewable Energy And Grid Infrastructure:  Due to the inventions of Electric Vehicles as well as Charging Infrastructure has demands a lot of electricity and in India, electricity is primarily produced by the burning coal which results in the emissions of greenhouse gases. In addition to this various Indian companies hold some liability due to which they are unable to meet the requirements of electricity of the whole country.

Go Electric Campaign

In the year 2021, the Go Electric Campaign has been launched by the Government with a view to promoting the adoption of electric vehicles & devices and electric cooking appliances throughout the country. Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has started this campaign. This campaign will sponsor low-cost, eco-friendly electrical products.

M-auto Electric Mobility’s Electric Auto Rickshaws

Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Edappadi K Palaniswami has recently launched M-auto Electric Mobility’s Electric Auto rickshaws in the year 2019. The government has allocated Rs. 100 for the implementation of this initiative and they have also offered jobs opportunities to 5000 people. A target of introducing 4000 electric rickshaws in the city has been covered.

Charges For Ride

Charges for rides in these rickshaws will cost Rs. 40 for every 100 KM, while the petrol-driven auto-rickshaws are well worth the cost of Rs. 350- Rs. 400 for 100 KM. An amount of Rs. 1.2 lakh to Rs. 1.5 lakhs will be spent on retrofitting. The government is planning to set up charging stations in each of the 10 zones of the city. Exempting EVs From Road Tax

Some efforts have also been put by the Maharashtra state; they are going to exempt the Electric Vehicle tax from the road tax. The government of Maharashtra is going to provide 15% of subsidy to the first lakhs of EV’s registered in the state. The government has also provided a subsidy of 1 million for setting up 250 Charging Stations.

Uttrakhand EV Policy

Recently the Government of Uttrakhand has launched the Uttrakhand EV Policy in order to promote the use and manufacturing of Electric Vehicles. The government of Uttrakhand will provide loans ranging between Rs. 10 crores to Rs. 50 crores in order to build Electric Vehicles and Charging Infrastructures. The government will remove the motor tax for the first lakhs of customers for 5 years.

Low Floor AC Electric Buses

Recently the Government of Delhi has sanctioned 1000 low floor AC Electric buses. These low floors AC Electric buses will be used in Delhi’s Public Transport System. The government has also given a subsidy of Rs. 75 lakhs on the purchase of the bus. These buses have CCTV, Automatic vehicle Tracking systems (AVTS), Panic buttons and panic alarms.

Ather Grid

Ather Energy has launched Ather Grid on 22 May 2018 in Bangalore. They have launched Charging Infrastructure. Charging Stations have been opened in various zones of Bangalore. This service is open to all-electric vehicles. Soon Ather Energy going to launch its own electric scooter.
