UP Old Age Pension Scheme 2024

State Government of Uttar Pradesh has launched Old Age Pension Scheme in order to provide pensions to the old, widow and disabled persons of the state. The amount of benefit will be transferred through the mode of Direct Benefit Transfer. Every month, Rs. 1000 will be provided to the bank account of the beneficiary.

Chief Minister Mr Yogi Adityanath Ji has launched Old Age Pension Scheme UP with a motive to provide financial assistance of Rs. 1000 to each destitute woman, old and disabled citizens of the state. This scheme is a type of pension scheme. A leprosy woman will get Rs. 3000 for per month under this scheme.

Objectives Of Old Age Pensi on Scheme 2024

The main objective of launching the Uttar Pradesh Old Age Pension Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the needy old, disabled and widows of Uttar Pradesh so that they will be able to meet their daily living expenses without having to depend on others. By applying under this scheme, the financial condition of the beneficiary will be getting improved.

Another main objective of starting Old Age Pension Scheme is to provide pensions. There are 3 schemes which have covered under this scheme for old age, widowed women and disabled persons and amount of benefit will vary from one scheme to the other.  Around 87 lakhs of applicants will be able to take benefits under this scheme.

Up Old Age Pension Scheme

One of the first schemes that has been specially launched for the welfare of the senior citizens of Uttar Pradesh is Old Age Pension Scheme. By applying under this scheme, financial assistance of Rs. 800 will be provided to each old age citizen.  Earlier the amount of benefit under this scheme was offered Rs. 750 and now it has been increased to Rs. 800.

UP Widow Pension Scheme

This scheme has been specially launched for providing benefits to the Widow woman. Rs. 500 will be provided to each eligible widow for improving their financial conditions. This will put emphasis on the development and growth of the economically weaker sections of Uttar Pradesh.  Now no widow will have to become dependent upon others.

UP Disabled Pension Scheme

This scheme will put emphasis on giving financial aid to disabled persons who have been unemployed due to their disability. By applying under this scheme, Rs. 500 will be provided to each Disabled person. For they must ensure that they have 40% of disability which has been verified by the city or district hospital.

No. Of Applicants

Within launching this scheme, the government has also set limitations on the no. of applicants who will be able to take benefits under this scheme. A target of covering 56 lakhs of applicants has been fixed by the Government.  Around 87 lakhs of widows, disabled persons and leprosy women will be covered.

Supervision Authority

As we all know that pension will be distributed to about 87 lakhs of eligible applicants then, there should be a supervisory authority who will oversee the working of pension distribution, so that no corruption will be done with the allocated budget which has to be distributed among beneficiaries. Distribution of pension will be done under the supervision of the Department of Social Welfare.

Verification Process

Within launching this scheme, the government has also started the process of verification under which all the applicants who have filed their application for availing of this scheme will be verified by the concerned officials.  In recent years, beneficiaries of the Old Age Pension Scheme have been verified by the Government.  Out of the 2.5 lakhs of received applications, 55000 beneficiaries have been rejected.

UP New Old Age Pension Scheme

Now the amount of benefit has been increased from Rs. 800 to Rs. 1000 per month which was being provided to each old age citizen applied under the Old Age Pension Scheme. The government of Uttar Pradesh will cover about 55 lakhs of such people under this scheme. This scheme will provide social security to old age persons.
