Objectives Of Central Government Health Scheme 2024

One of the foremost objective of launching CGHS is to provide healthcare services to all Government employees within their family members so that they will be able to get treatment facilities at the time of emergency. After applying under this scheme CGHS card will be provided to the Government employees for availing of hospitalization services.

Other objective of starting Central Government Health Scheme is to facilitate the provisions of cashless treatments across the country in an emergency need. Government Employees and their family members, pensioners have been covered under this scheme.

CGHS Card

After registering under this scheme, applicants will get CGHS Card which is also known as a plastic card issued by the Government. This card will contain some details about the beneficiary such as a Unique Beneficiary ID which will be required at the time of taking treatment in empanelled hospital. By paying the charge of Rs. 50, the applicant can get the duplicate card if the card has been lost by mistake.

Getting Treatment Out Of Covered Cities

Pensioners can also avail treatment services if they are living in those areas which have been not covered under this scheme. For this, they will have to pay some medical allowance. Treatment facilities will soon be provided by the nearby covered city after paying the medical allowance. OPD treatments at home will not be available.

Renewal Of Card In Case Of Death

A new and fresh card can be applied by the spouse in case the cardholder has died. For this, the spouse will need to show the death certificate along with the old card attached with the application form. The name of the wife and siblings can also be added to the card by the cardholder.

Taking Treatment In Empanelled Hospital

The patient will need to take permission that has been prescribed by the medical officer. Referring medical office must endorse the listed investigations. Then a referral ID will be generated online which will be required at the time of admission under an empanelled hospital. But you will require taking permission if you want to take treatments that have been unlisted on your card.

Treatment Procedure In Empanelled Hospitals

In case the beneficiary wants to take treatment under any empanelled hospitals in an emergency situation then the hospital can refuse to provide treatments to them. They will provide cashless treatment facilities to them. The hospital will issue a certificate that contains the detail of the patient’s condition which will be generated at the time of admission.

Submission Of Claim Form

The beneficiary will be required to submit a medical reimbursement form to the concerned department under non empanelled hospital within the 3 months of discharge after getting treatment services. The form must be submitted in duplicate form. After the verification process, a Claim number will be generated which can be used by the beneficiary for tracking their complaint status.

The benefits of this scheme are as follows: –

By applying under this scheme all the Government Employees and pensioners will be able to get cashless treatment in the hospitals.
Central Government Health Scheme has given employees of Central Government as well as their family member’s priority.
CGHS card will be issued to the beneficiaries for availing the benefits of cashless treatments.
Duplicate card can be issued in case the CGHS card has been lost by the applicant by mistake.

Features of Central Government Health Scheme 2024

The features of this scheme are as follows: –

CGHS has been launched under the Government of India.
This initiative has been specially started for the employees of central government and the pensioners.
A target of covering 38.5 lakhs of applicants has been fixed by the Government.
Around 74 no. of cities have been covered under this scheme.
Patient has to pay some medical allowance for taking the indoor treatment in case he is residing out of the covered city.
Transit Permit is not required for getting treatment in another city.

Rs. 50 will have to be paid by the applicant for issuing the duplicate card of CGHS.

Rs. 449000 charges per month have to pay for the free diet.
Rs. 697000 charges for per month have to be paid for the treatment of Tuberculosis.
