Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Scheme was launched on 18 February 2016 to protect the interests of farmers suffering from financial loss due to loss of crops due to natural calamity. PM Fasal Bima Yojana 2024

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana has been started by our Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji with the objective of providing crop insurance to all those farmers of the country who had to face financial risk due to loss of crops due to natural calamities, but now They will not face any kind of problem while applying under this scheme.

PMFBY is the abbreviated form for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is a type of crop insurance scheme that will be provided to all the farmers who are facing the failure of crops due to natural calamities and pest attacks. This scheme is basically covering for the insurance premium which will be given to the farmers of the country.

Objectives Of PM Fasal Bima Yojana

One of the foremost objectives of starting Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is to provide financial assistance to all the farmers of the country so that the failure loss of their crops can be covered by the crop insurance provided by the government by applying under this scheme.

The other main objective of the PM Fasal Bima Scheme is also to provide crop insurance to such beneficiaries so that they can be stabilized and at the same time they can be recovered from the loss of failure of crops. By applying under this scheme all the farmers/beneficiaries will be encouraged to continue farming without worrying about the loss of their crops.

Grievance Redressal Centre

In order to facilitate the functioning of Grievance Redressal, darbars have been opened at the block level by the Department of Agriculture. At this darbar, farmers can register their grievances in case they have not got their insurance against their lost crops. All the grievances will be redressed by the District Level Committee.

After the submission of complaints by the farmers, District Level Committee will provide insurance to them. With this, the farmers can also register their complaints by submitting required documents in the open courts for getting Redressal.

Quiz Competition

To bring awareness among the beneficiaries of Fasal Bima Yojana, a quiz competition has been organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare from 21 June to 21 August. All the farmers can make participation in this quiz competition. Those farmers who will get the win after participating in the quiz will give prize money.

Authorities have also set some limitations on the questions which will be asked as well duration taken by the participant while answering. Participant has to take a minimum of 5 minutes for answering 15 questions. The winner will also award with a Certificate of their participation.

Campaign Organized By UP Government

In order to bring active participation of farmers, the State Government of UP is going to organize a campaign on 1st July 2021. About 75 no. of blocks of state have been covered. Additional Chief Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi has also put special attention towards providing benefits to farmers. Various notifications have been sent by officials regarding this campaign. No farmers will get deprived of this scheme after giving their active participation in this campaign.

Inclusion Of Nominee

Now all the farmers after applying under this scheme can make their nominees. After the death of the insured farmer, the nominee will get the insured amount of lost crops. Nominee on the behalf of the insured farmer will get the whole amount of insurance on the basis of crops that have been damaged. Farmers will get a big relief after making their nominees.

List Of Districts For Chilli Cultivation Insurance

Recently the government has decided to give insurance who owe chilli cultivation in some districts which are specified by the authorities. District Agriculture Officer has made available information about this scheme to the farmers.

Launching Of Kishan Rath Mobile App

In order to make easy availability of information about PMFBY, the government has launched Kisan Rath Mobile App for the use of farmers. Through this app, farmers will get every updated information about the insurance provided on crops. At the launching of this mobile app Amit Kumar, Yashpal, Suresh Pal and Dharmendra were also present.

Promotion Of Publicity Vehicle

Deputy Director of Agriculture Department PC Saini has approved the promotion of publicity vehicle. This publicity vehicle will make awareness about this scheme to a large number of farmers so that they will be able to apply under this scheme. This publicity vehicle will take around on each panchayat.  This will encourage each eligible farmer to get an insurance scheme provided on Kharif crops by the government.

Budget Of Expenditure

In order to make the agriculture sector development, a budget of Rs 16000 crore has been fixed by the government for the year 2021-22. According to last year budget analysis report, a budget of Rs 305 crores was spent by the government for providing insurance on damaged crops. Many amendments have been taken place for launching and relaunching of this scheme. Mode of Direct Benefit Transfer will be used for disbursing the amount of claim to the farmer within 72 hours of duration.

Crops Insurance Due To Wildlife Destruction

Now the government is also going to provide insurance to the farmers on the basis of damaged crops which have been damaged by the wildlife destruction. If farmers’ crops get damaged by any wild animal, then the government will be there to disburse the amount of insurance to farmers. This service is based upon add-on service. But for availing of this benefit, the farmers will have to pay the premium amount of registered crop under this scheme.

Originally this scheme was launched on 13 January 2016. After the implementation of this scheme, the government has also set a budget of 16000 crores for the years 2021-22. If you look at the report of the previous analysis, then Rs 305 crore is more than the budget of last year.

• Farmers can also register their claim without having to visit any insurance company. They can make their registration by calling the tollfree number. They have to register this report by contacting the toll free number within 72 hours of the loss of crop.
•  For submitting this claim to insurance company, the farmer has to give some reason for the crop damage.
• After the getting your information, within the 72 hours the insurance company will give you the insurance of the crop which has been damaged.
• After making all the formalities, the insurance company will transfer the amount of insurance to your bank account number within the 15 days of processing.
