WB Krishak Bandhu Scheme 2024
Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamta Banerjee has started Krishak Bandhu Scheme on 1 January 2019 in order to provide financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 to all the farmers of the state. This scheme is only applicable to the farmers of the state. A target covering 70, 00,000 beneficiaries have been set up by the Government.
Krishak Bandhu Scheme has been launched under the State Government of West Bengal. This scheme is part of the election manifesto of the Trinamool Congress. A death benefit of Rs. 2, 00,000 will be provided to each beneficiary. The government has allocated 1500 crores of budget for the successful implementation of this scheme.

Objectives Of Krishak Bandhu Scheme 2024
One of the foremost objectives of launching the West Bengal Krishak Bandhu Scheme is to provide financial assistance to all the farmers of West Bengal so that they may not have to face financial instability during the economic crisis. The government will provide them with 2 lakh of insurance cover. Around 70 lakhs of beneficiaries will get benefits under this scheme.
The other objective of launching the Krishak Bandhu Scheme is to empower each farmer so that he or she will become self-independent and may not have to become dependent upon others. Through this scheme, Chief Minister also wants to improve the financial conditions of farmers so that they will be able to sustain their livelihood in a much easier way.
Budget of Krishak Bandhu
For the successful implementation of the Krishak Bandhu Scheme, Government has allocated Rs. 1500 crores of budget to the scheme implementers. Within setting this budget for the scheme, the Government has also set an aim to provide the benefit of this scheme to around 70 lakhs of applicants. Rs. 10,000 will be provided to each beneficiary for the year.
Doublet Of Finance
By launching this scheme, the government of West Bengal has also doubled the cost of the benefit of this scheme for small & marginal farmers. Rs. 4000 per annum will be provided to farmers who hold below 1 acre of cultivable land. Within this 2, 00,000 of Life Insurance cover will also be given to the farmers, if the farmer dies at the age limit of 60 years.
Dimensions Of This Scheme
There are 2 dimensions of the Krishak Bandhu Scheme as follows: –
- Crop Insurance = Financial Assistance of Rs. 10,000 will be given to farmers holding 1 or more acres of land for Rabi & Kharif Seasons. Amount of benefit will be provided in 2 installments: –
- First installment will be transferred to the beneficiary’s bank account in the month of June.
- Second installment will be transferred to the beneficiary’s bank account in the month of November.
- Life Insurance= Under this, Rs. 2 Lakhs of Insurance Cover will be provided to farmer in case death of the beneficiary.
- Government has set age limit from 18 to 60 years of age for availing this insurance benefit.
- Life Insurance of 2 lakhs will be provided to the beneficiary’s family in case the beneficiary dies at the age limit of 60 years.
- Amount of Life Insurance will be given to the beneficiary’s family with a maximum time of 15 days after the farmer dies.
Benefits Of Krishak Bandhu Scheme 2024
The benefits of this scheme are as follows: –
- This scheme is only applicable for the Farmers of the state West Bengal.
- Only the citizens of West Bengal can take benefit under this scheme. No other citizen of other state can avail the benefit of this scheme.
- By applying online under Krishak Bandhu Scheme financial assistance of Rs. 2, 00,000 of life cover insurance will be provided to each eligible beneficiary.
- Amount of Insurance cover will be provided to farmer’s family after the 15 days of farmer death.
- Those farmers who hold 1 or more acres of cultivable land will be provided financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 per annum.
- Crop Cover insurance will be provided to the farmer for both seasons: – first is Kharif Season and second is Rabi Season.
- Amount of benefit which will be provided to farmers under Crop Cover Insurance will be provided to farmers in 2 equal installments: – June and November.
- Government has also decided to provide premium for Crop insurance under the implementation of WB Krishak Bandhu Scheme.
- By having crop Insurance cover facility, no farmer will have to face the failure of crops by the natural calamities.
